How do I audit my mechanical keys?
Work with your locksmith to review their key distribution records against your own, then roll call all key holders to ensure they still have possession of the key(s) issued to them.

Use your administrative software to review active users and cards, then review when they were used last to ensure they're still in use.

How do I audit who's mechanical key can access different spaces?
Work with your locksmith to review the key hierarchy, the keying schedule, and the key holders, to verify what keys work where and who has each key.

Does SLD have any warranties?
Yes, we have a 30-day workmanship guarantee and offer manufacturer warranties on all hardware provided.

Do you offer emergency locksmith services?
Yes, we do! However, our emergency service is only available to account-holding customers.

Why shouldn't I buy locks from Home Depot
All locks sold at box stores are "keyed alike", which means every lock on the shelf uses the same key. Customer 1's keys work Customer 2's lock, and so on and so forth, and vice versa.

How do I set up an account with SLD?
You can become an SLD client and get an account by requesting a credit application, or a credit card authorization form from info@sldsecurity.ca. Once completed and returned, we will email you with your account number.

What is an automatic door operator?
An automatic door operator is an electro-mechanical device designed to open and close a door without physical exertion.

Does SLD provide residential or automotive locksmith service?
No, we do not perform residential or automotive services. We are a commercial locksmith company only.

What does cross-keying mean?
Cross-keying occurs when the mathematics of two keying structures result in an outcome that allows two differently cut keys to operate the same cylinder.

Do you supply health care specialty hardware?
Yes, whether micro-coated hardware for the mitigation of bacteria spread, anti-ligature hardware for patient safety and security, protective hardware for mitigating damage by gurneys and carts, automated openings to improve efficiency when moving throughout the facility, or auditable locking solutions for secured access to drugs and narcotics.

Can you open my safe?
There is no straight answer to this. It all depends on the safe you have. As with a car, safes are designed and manufactured differently. Each requires a unique strategy and specialty tools to work on. Send us an email with a photo of the safe, and as much information as possible and we will let you know if we can help open your safe!
